Understanding Views
Views are how we measure timer usage. Understanding what counts as a view helps you optimize your plan usage.
What Counts as a View
Counts as 1 view:
- Each time an email is opened and the timer image loads
- Each page load on a website with an embedded timer
- Each API request that generates a timer image
Does NOT count as a view:
- Previews in the SnapTimers editor
- Cached images served from CDN (same recipient, short time)
- Bot and crawler requests (filtered automatically)
How Counting Works
- 1.
Request received
When someone opens your email or loads your page, their browser requests the timer image.
- 2.
View recorded
We log the view and generate the current timer state.
- 3.
Image served
The animated GIF is delivered, cached for a short period.
Caching & Deduplication
We use smart caching to prevent inflated view counts:
- •CDN Caching: Same user requesting the same timer within minutes uses cached version
- •Email Client Caching: Many email clients cache images, reducing multiple counts
- •Bot Filtering: Known bots and crawlers are excluded from counts
Billing Period
Views reset at the start of each billing cycle:
- • Monthly plans: Reset on your subscription renewal date
- • Annual plans: Reset on your yearly renewal date
- • Unused views: Do not roll over to the next period
